Does A Low APGAR Score Mean That My Baby With Develop Cerebral Palsy?

No. Many children are born with low APGAR scores and cerebral palsy affects only 2-3 babies out of every 1,000 births.

However, a low APGAR score may mean that your child suffered a brain injury during labor and delivery that could result in cerebral palsy. Generally, a cerebral palsy diagnosis is not made until age 2-3, following 18-36 months of medical care for "global developmental delays."

At Bottar Law, PLLC, our team of Syracuse New York birth injury lawyers understand the potential connection between a low APGAR score and a preventable birth injury. If you have questions about your labor and delivery, contact us at (833) 268-8277 or by e-mail at info@bottarleone.com.
