Mr. Bottar is the senior partner and co-founder of Bottar Leone, PLLC, a plaintiff's only law firm concentrating on the trial of complex medical malpractice, birth injury, construction site accident, product liability, toxic tort, and catastrophic injury cases.  His practice centers around birth injuries (e.g., oxygen deprivation, cerebral palsy, mechanical injury, hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy), brain injuries (e.g., stroke, concussions, post-concussion syndrome, TBI), nerve injuries (complex regional pain syndrome, Erb's Palsy, Klumpke's Palsy), cancer misdiagnosis, surgical errors and spinal cord injuries.

Over thirty-three years of practice, Mr. Bottar has counseled thousands of clients.  His extensive experience has enabled him to secure many million and multi-million dollar jury verdicts and settlements in lawsuits against individuals, corporations and state/government entities earning him the honor of Best Lawyers® 2009 Syracuse Personal Injury Lawyer of the Year, annual recognition in the prestigious publication The Best Lawyers In America®, annual listing in New York Magazine as one of the New York Area's Best Lawyers and, as one of Upstate New York's top plaintiff's medical malpractice and personal injury attorneys, annual listing in New York Super Lawyers® and in The Good Life Central New York Magazine.  Consistently recognized as one of the Top Trial Lawyers In America, he has also earned a life membership in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum® and repeated listing in Marquis Who's Who In American Law and Who's Who In America.  Mr. Bottar is well versed in the law, the legal system, and the intricacies of trial practice.  He is well-known for his professionalism, integrity and the personal approach he takes with his clients.

In 2001, Mr. Bottar was appointed by the Appellate Division, Fourth Department to serve as a member of the Character and Fitness Committee for the New York State Supreme Court, Fifth Judicial District.  The Committee is responsible for screening and interviewing all Central New York applicants who are seeking admission to the Bar.

Mr. Bottar is president-elect of the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers, sits on its Board of Directors, and is a charter member.  He is also a member of the Onondaga County Bar Association and sits on its CNY Justice-For-All Project Committee, and is a member of the New York State Bar Association, New York State Trial Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.  He regularly speaks or lectures at legal and non-legal functions, including Syracuse University College of Law's Professional Responsibility and at ethics, torts or trial-related classes.  He is also a past member of the Dean's Advisory Counsel at the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Law.

Mr. Bottar has a long record of public service and is deeply invested in New York State's education system.  He served as a Trustee of the North Syracuse Central School District Board of Education from 1988 through 1989, and as the President of the Board from 1989 through 1996.  He also served on the Board of Directors of the Onondaga Madison School Boards Association from 1994 through 1996.

In 1996, 2001 and again in 2006, the New York State Legislature elected Mr. Bottar to serve as a Regent of the University of the State of New York, the most comprehensive and unified education system in the nation.  The position is unpaid.  In his capacity as a Regent, Mr. Bottar is responsible for educational policy affecting public and private elementary and secondary schools, public and private colleges and universities, libraries, museums, public broadcasting facilities, and the licensing and regulation of professionals throughout the State; and, to that end, he has been listed in The New York State Red Book since 1997 (published since 1892, the Red Book is widely recognized as the most accurate text on the decision-makers in all segments of New York State government).

Prior to co-founding the Firm in 1983, Mr. Bottar was an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Syracuse, Department of Law.
